Transmision...buying time?

OK, I am 99% sure my tranny is starting to go out. It has about 160K on it and was poorly maintained. It started slipping in one of the middle gears when you accelerate and it shifts down a gear. If you floor it and force it to kick down a couple gears, it doesn't slip at all. Today I changed the tranny fluid and did a round of Valvoline tranny flush and conditioner. It now doesn't slip at all, but Knowing these trannys it is on its way out. I'd like it to last through the winter as I plan on buying a newer truck in the spring. Any home remedies for buying sometime with a well worn tranny that I maybe haven't heard about?

IMO your lucky the flush helped. I've had back luck with that in the past. As for as remedies, the only thing i've found to help is Lucas Trans Fix. Its super thick and I have had good luck with this product in my auto trans.

I didn't think it would work, but I didn't have much to lose. I really don't car to put a new tranny in a truck that I want to part ways with, but I am not wanting to buy something new right now. I want to pay cash for my next truck and I am only 2/3's the way there.
