Correct Gear Oil?

Does Ford spec for API GL-4 or API GL-5 for a 2000 Ford Ranger 2WD? I read that using API GL-5 in a API GL-4 (and the other way around) specified differential can have harmful side affects. What is the correct gear oil to use?
