What gear does your truck have now? Have you considered swapping the entire axle?

I know this doesn't apply to him but on the first FX4 Level 2 a 4.56 gear was offered as optional equipment. Although extremely rare he might be able to find an axle from that. If not I recommend going out of town.

4.56 was NEVER offered in a Ranger, FX4 Level II or not......4.10 was the lowest gear possible in a Ranger since they were first built...

I disagree. Junkyards will list axles according to the door tag or the axle tag. They made them, they were just extremely rare.

this has been brought up time and time again....

per conversation with 2 local Ford dealership: (sorry i trust them a lot more than you)
4.10 was the lowest gear offered in a Ranger. Only way to get a 4.56 gear ratio is to get an aftermarket gear and install it.

here is the Google search page for the dealerships I called. Ask for parts, then ask them if it was ever offered in a Ranger....

http://www.google.com/search?q=ford+...e7&rlz=1I7DMUS

or even better, do your own search for a local dealer and call them.

Some dealerships will tell you a level 2 never came with a manual t-case, we all know thats BS so why would I believe the dealership when they tell me a 4.56 never came in a Ranger. I don't care what the dealership says, they aren't the all-seeing eyes for the Ranger. I draw my conclusions from my own research, and that tells me that 4.56s were offered and put in Rangers. It was not common by any means, but they existed. YOU will not change my mind.

I can settle on that. It was still the 8.8 axle.

call Ford Detroit using this number: 1-800-392-3673

http://www.fordvehicles.com/help/contact/

per my conversation with them (they looked through ALL the tech manuals they have, NONE show ever being offered with a 4.56 gear ratio)
