What transmission's can I use?

Im going to a u pull it yard next week to search for a transmission, I believe I have a 4r44e transmission

Specs:
2000 3.0 flex fuel auto 4x4

Could anyone give me a comprehensive list of years/motors that I could pull a replacement from?

Thanks alot, I just found this and does it mean that the 2.3l and 3.0 use the same 4r44e transmission?

Also I have never pulled a tranmission, does anyone have any helpful tips/ a step by step guide?

Same or similar guts but the bellhousing has a different bolt pattern for the 2 engines. It might be possible to swap the bells between the two. Torque converters might also be different. You'd need to check into that.

If you want a direct, bolt in swap of the complete transmission, stay with the 99~00 3.0 4x4 donor.

http://therangerstation.com/forums/

thats another GREAT ranger forum, and a lot of members here are members there as well, including me. They have a whole tech library over there. Simply do a search on both forums, for something like "automatic transmission removal" i'm sure both these sites have multiple write ups on them.

If you cant happen to find a write up, search anything automatic really, and just read and read and read. get a haynes manual and read it as well. I typically read the same sections in my haynes manual many many times before i do a repair, and i've been fixing vehicles for quite a while.
