4x4 help

tired switching it into 4x4 hi and the indicator light went on, but did not engage 4x4. then tried putting it into 4x4 low and nothing happen at all. no when trying to switch from 2wd to 4x4 hi or low nothing happens and no lights go on.. somebody had this happen before. help me out

99 has pulse vacuum hubs which are ****. Get AVM manual locking hubs.

Do the 4wd lights flash once when you start the truck?

Try this. Go under the truck with the engine off and see if you can hear the shift motor working while someone in the cab switches it in and out of 4wd. If not then its probably dead which is another common issue with Rangers. If it works then your hubs are bad. But if you are saying the lights don't come on when you shift it then more than likely the motor is dead. Could also be the switch.
