Found the tranny problem!!!!!!!

Well i took it to the local mechanic and he got it up on the lift and took a look. Took him no time at all to find the problem. The tranny comes with two plugs in it with magnets on the inside as many of you know. Well lets just say mine only had one YAY. Took the other one out and sure enough the magnet was covered in shavings. The gears are totaly gone. So I got the quote and its 1000$ including labor. Not bad. Well that was good and then all of the sudden i remembered. When i moved to alabama i didnt have any tools for the firt month while waiting for the house to be built. I took it to a 10 minute oiler change and they did a full fluid change and all. Thats how this whole thing started apparently they forgot the other plug and its been slowly leaking for the past year AWESOME. Ill get some pics hopefully tomorrow. Its safe to say im kinda mad. Should have put this in the Blow-Off but o well.

Guy I know had a engine rebuilt, and blew up immediately soon as he got it. This is a shocker but the mechanic left a wrench in the cylinder!!!!! The place he had check it out after it blew up was different from the first, but they called the place that did the rebuild and they sent someone over to snag the wrench before the car owner could get it himself as evidence. Needless to say, he got F#$%ed over and they would only give him a discount of like less than 50percent to rebuild it again, and wouldn't admit to the wrench being left in there...........

So, lil worse than yours, but just as annoying, that is why you always DIY if at all possible......... I am glad that is what I have done since I got my truck........

(I know you didn't have the tools and such, not raggin, you were in a bad spot)

That absolutely stinks.

Water and stuff has been getting in there also dirt. Bad all the way around.

Sorry that happened to you. Hope you get a much better transmission as a result of it though.

Yea and the fact that i have been sunk in mud many a times and left that hole with a welcome sign haha. I really like to do things my self. Everything on my truck is done by me. Like you siad in a bad situation. Getting a rebuilt tranny from the mechanics buddy that has a trans shop. From my understanding tey put two different kind of trans in my truck. I belive i had the mazda one. Which one is the better? Ive heard mine is strong.

Beats me! I have the 5R44E automatic and that's the only trans I know anything about and it's not so much that I do know, lol.

when I had 5th/reverse die on my 93 ranger I think they put a rebuilt M5OD in. I'm not sure and digging up that receipt will take forever. But that would be the mazda tranny.
