why would you want one in the font? wouldnt you want it in the rear the front is already locked, ok in rangers that are 4x4 you have the 8.8 in the rear and the 7.5 in the front. and i wanna put on in my ranger in the rear b/c i hate the one wheel wonder. and you dont really need to look hard for one you just search it and puttin it in isnt to hard either i hear.

First off...in alex 98 ranger he has an 8.8 in the rear and a DANA 30/35 hybrid axle in the front with cv outers
in your 1994, you have an 8.8 rear and a DANA 35 front. you will need a lock-rite for a ranger dana 35 for <1998 model year.
there was never a ranger that came with a locked front axle

there is no factory built ranger with anything but open front end.

As stated above. No Ranger has ever come with anything but an open diff up front. And yes a 4x4 is really a 4x2 if thats how you want to look at it. 4x4 binding on pavement while turning is not anything new and is normal behavior even for an open diff up front. If you're convinced yours has something other than open then pull the axle, open it up, and I'm positive all you'll find is spider gears.

I've been stuck many times when I had open diffs to know how the dang thing works/operates. If you're on flat dry surface yes power to all 4 wheels. When a wheel loses traction, the power is moved to that wheel. You could have 1/2 truck on ice (think beside roadway) and other 1/2 on dry pavement and you'll be stuck (assuming zero traction on ice, ie: no snow or dirt). The tire with the least resistance will spin.

Dana 44: 19 spline course (early models), 30 spline fine (late), 32 spline in Jeep Rubicons
Dana 60: 30 or 35 spline depending on application
Dana 70: 35 spline
Ford 7.5": 28 Spline
Ford 8.8": 28 or 31 Spline depending on Application
Ford 9": 28 or 31 Spline depending on Application
Ford 10.25"/10.5" Sterling: 35 Spline
All of these are FACTORY spline counts. However, larger shafts with more splines are available from the aftermarket world for most of the axles mentioned above.
