Sluggish 1st-2nd Shift

Sluggish 1st-2nd Shift
Needing some help with my transmission as the title reads. First off I have a 5R55E transmission and it is the original that came with the truck. I currently have 115K on the engine and the tranny. I have an X3 and I have used the settings on it to change the shift firmness through all the gears. I changed the shift firmness to 25% or the max setting for gear change 1-2. This still didn't help.
Under normal driving conditions the transmission doesn't slip from 1st-2nd, but it does take like a second for it to change gears, unlike all the gears that shift solid and firm. Of course I have changed the shift firmness on those gears too, but they all shift great whether it is normal driving or under hard acceleration. The only time my tranny changes good is from 1st to 2nd is under hard acceleration.
My question is, have I set the firmness to high on my X3 or is this just due to old age and my transmission may need some work on the internals of it? I tow with my Ranger nearly everyday, but I never even come close to the max towing capacity. Most of the time I tow about 1800-2000lbs. 2500lbs max.
Any ideas where I can start my search for troubleshooting?
Thanks,
Matt

It will take a while to find , but a member on here did a write-up on adjusting the trans to get rid of the "flare" between shifts.

Dave: Ok drove around today and parked it and checked tranny level. It is on the full mark and red in color. Nothing nasty on the dipstick either.
Dan: Every time that I reflash my truck I need to wipe the memory that was on it before? How is that done on an X3?
Ken: Thanks for finding that thread. But I don't know if I trust myself enough to work on my transmission lol. But that is def something to look at, and that may indeed be what the problem is. His truck (in the thread) only had 75k on the tranny, mine has 115k. So those bands over time could have easily come loose and causing the "flared"shifts.
However today I put some of that motorcraft friction additive stuff in the tranny and I am going to see how that works out for me. This also seems to be a problem with throttle pressure too. On the account of how much I push down on the accelerator, the more I push the better it shifts. The less I push down the "flare" sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't lol. Weird.
