I got mine from the local junkyard for $25's.

Ford Part # IL54-7H417-AC
Vendor # M799G
Motorola Model # = 01MP207C01
Data Code = 01083
Seriel # = 20982675

I replaced mine because my 4WD wasn't working ie: would not engage 4wd hi or low. My indicator lights didn't come on and go off after turning the key and starting the truck. After I replaced the 4X4CM everything worked fine. Hope this helps you out, because to get one from Ford dealership should cost close to $200.

The pcm from an 01 will not work for your 04 truck. The electronics changed in 04.

In pre 04 trucks, the GEM controlled the 4wd shift motor. In the 04+ models I believe it was replaced by a "smart junction box".

EDIT

The truck in your sig is or is not the one we are talking about?

FYI, most of the time its a shift motor causing issues not the computer.
