97 5r55e to m5od-r1 swap (need some questions answered)
I currently have a 97 4.0 Mazda b4000 4x4.(California smog laws apply) The 5r55e has gone out for the third time. I've purchased a 98 m5od-r1 w/ 4x4 tail housing. I'm midway through pulling my 5r55e trans and becoming concerned. I've read trepaul's write up on this and have some situation specific questions.
1) the 5r55e has a oss near the tail housing, I don't see anywhere on the m5od-r1 to install a oss. Is there a difference between a 97 m5od-r1 and the 98 m5od-r1 I purchased, where this oss is concerned?
2) On a 97 m5od-r1 is the oss and vss that's on the transfer case both required or is that oss pig tail not needed on the manual transmission?
3) Does any one know what the correct PCM id number for a 97 4.0 Mazda b4000 4x4 with a manual transmission and automatic transfer case is?
Thanks for the help,
Daniel

I just finished the swap. It turns out I don't need to hook up the the iss, or oss on my 97.
Here is a list of parts needed to do the swap.
• m5od-r1 transmission (got mine for $60 on Craigslist)
• clutch/brake pedal assembly ($30 junkyard)
• clutch master cylinder/reservoir and hydraulic clutch line ($20 junkyard)
• clutch slave cylinder ($60 parts store)
• clutch kit w/ pilot bearing ($133.99 parts store)
• new flywheel ($275 parts store)
• Flywheel bushing (some flywheels don't come w/ this in them and you can't put the new pilot bearing in with out it. $9 dealership)
• transmission reverse switch w/ harness pig tail. ($2 junkyard)
• manual transmission tunnel plate ($5 junkyard)
• shifter stick with ****, boot, and cup holder ($5 junk yard)
• new pcm F77F-12A650- AEC($109 eBay)
• new starter ($118 parts store)
• Bellhousing block plate ($48.10 dealership)
