gear ratio question

Icon5 gear ratio question

Okay so i was looking around the web and i found this What is my Ford rear end ratio, do I have positraction - Drivetrain.com and according to this with my axle code being 86 my gears are 4.56 does this mean i dont need to regear to run the 33s i want?

I highly doubt you've got 4.56 from the factory...


86 = open 7.5" w/ 3.73 gears.

ok i thought that was weird but also is there somewhere other than a salvage yard i could find 4.10s cause i dont like the idea of buying used?

here, other forums, craigslist, ebay? I'd highly suggest getting a junkyard 8.8" 4.10LS axle off a Ranger.

if only you were in florida, i have an 8.8 with 4:10's just sittin in the yard. if you make it down this way hit me up.

could i fit a Ford 8.8" axle from an 89 Ford F-150?

no. wrong lug pattern and way too wide. unless you like the 'entire tire sticking out of the fender' look.

Get a ranger axle w/ 4.10's. Stang or Crown Vic or anything else most definately will not come with 4.10's. That is what you're after right?

yea 4.10s but ill get the ranger axle the salvage yard has here i was just seeing if i could get one a lil cheaper

Have you checked out Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market yet?? I looked in the Washington D.C. area and there's some decently priced 4.10 8.8 limited slip w/ 10" brakes rear ends.
