What to get?!

What are the best gears, I would like the best of all worlds, for 33's with Automatic trans?

4.10? 4.56? 4.51? or..?

I am very confused on the subject.

Thank you for anyone who can clear it up

Don't fear the gear.

4.88 would be great for the 3.0 and 33s. Most will say 4.56s, but most don't have experience. If 5.13s would fit the front on my truck I would've done that. With 4.88s and 35s my 3.0 still struggles to keep 75 mph in 5th gear.

4.88s for 33s???? I think thats incredibly low for the ratio, but again I haven't used it. I'll be running 33s and 4.10s.

Wow. This gets more and more confusing with every reply.

I think I will go with 4.10s because thats what Steven has in his truck.

is anyone here takin into consideration it is a AUTOMATIC 3.0, i would say if it was a auot 4.0 the 4.10's would be fine, but with the 3.0 it just doesnt produce the power at the proper rpms for 4.10's to be plausable.....thats just my views, and YES ive run 4.10's and 4.56's in a 3.0 auto truck before, its about the same power wise as a 4cyl and weighs nearly as much as the 4.0....

ok....this is gettin old SHE WANTS TO REGEAR, SHE WANTS WHATS BEST FOR THE TRUCK, NOT JUST WHAT WILL BE "OK", runnin 33's with 4.10's is the equivilant of runnin 3.50 gears in a stock truck, and if anyone has driven a 3.0 auto with 3.55 gears, u know its a total dog, itll be the same as 4.10's and 33's....

At least 4.56s. You will regret doing 4.10s......

Yea, you'll love the extra "umph" from the gears. It'll be a different truck!

The only way I could justify swapping in 4.10s is if you were swapping in a Expo 8.8 or something like that.

she can just gear the 7.5 for now and toss a lunchbox locker into it, it will most likely never have any issues with her runnin 33's, and when she decides to upgrade her axles later down the road, she will beable to sell the 7.5 to almost make her money back and shell be able to have saved money by being geared on gas.

besides, i got her on the hunt for a set of 76/77 bronco axles lol

DO NOT RUN 4.10s it will be a waste of money.

4.56s if all you will ever run is 33s
4.88s will work fine with 33s but are nice if you plan to go bigger.

4.56s or 4.88s those are your two choices. the others are not an option.

I have 4.10's with 31's right now. While its not a dog or slow, it can still keep a steady speed and gain a bit in 5th. But if I could I'd go with 4.56's and 31's. I'll take the what 200RPM's more for a jump from 4.10's to 4.56's. I went from 3.73's to 4.10's and it was around 200RMPS more. Nothing you could really tell except that it has more power for sure. I want to put a 3" BL and 33's and my truck is going to be a DOG.

Oh yeah I have a manual to.

Since I have had the 31's on the 7.5, it has started leaking in the pinion seal, and axle seals are going.

Putting money into a 7.5 is like spending money on a hooker, you never get your moneys worth.

thanks...

for the price of putting a locker in the 7.5, you could have an Explorer axle to put into your truck. That would give you an 8.8 with 31 spline axles AND a limited slip.
