four wheel conversion

I'd SAS it. Since your 1997 is coils anyway and has a steering box, it's a little bit easier. I'm just finishing off my 4x4 conversion an my 2002 4x2 Edge by SAS'ing it and it's a lot of trouble on the later trucks -- not that a SAS or conversion is ever trivial, lol.

the only problem with the early Bronco Dana 44's is they are low pinion axle.....anything over about 8" of lift on a Ranger will put bad pinion angles on the driveshaft......
i would get a late '70s F-150 Dana 44 and have it cut down 5.5" off the passanger side to match the track width of a Ranger......
