I think around town, 4.88 and 33's would be a blast. On the highway, You'll be turning about 3500rpms at 75 in overdrive. I'd say 4.56 is an econo gear for 35's...and a perfect gear for 33's. Wasn't a bad choice IMO.
4.88's and 33's didn't have the engine that high at 75, with an auto anyway. I forget what it was but it wasn't quite up there, still high...
You're right though, it was awesome in town and offroad. On the highways in Oregon it was fine, but where the speed limits here are 70 on the freeway it sucked. 4.56 and 33's are perfect I think, and would still be suitable with 35s in most cases.
