Hmm... Try and find an Explorer axle with 4.10's and L/S and disks.

How do you swap it to add disk brakes?

I think there's a kit you can buy for the 8.8's to convert to disks but you're just better off getting an explorer axle that already has them and just cleaning it up and swapping it in.

If it has the same spline as your axle which is most likely a 28 spline.

Do you know how to set up a ring and pinion? Measure backlash, pinion depth, etc? If not then it won't be a good idea for you to swap the L/S carrier into your existing axle.

It'll be like 4L10 88 and that will mean 4.10 LS in a 8.8. 373 75 would mean 3.73s in a 7.5. Its pretty easy to decode.

Trent posted what codes to look for. And yes, you are correct. It's held on by one of the diff cover bolts. It's just a little metal tag. Can't miss it. And if that's not there then you can check the door sticker. Those aren't always reliable though.

So Exploders are all 31 spline and Rangers 28

So if im keeping the old axle look for a 28 spline..

Also a guy at work said the mustangs will work if they have an 8.8 and you remove the axles and it basically bolts on

Am i right??
