help with 4wd

Ok guys i have a 97 explorer and its stuck in 4lo and wont come out of it but the 4lo light isn't on. Anybody have any ideas as to wat this could be any helps appreciated.

you tried putting it in neutral and with the brake pedal depressed?
sorry, very basic, but a lot of people don't know that.

ya neutral reverse nothing worked the module behind the dash clicks like it would when it engages.
