33s with stock gearing and tuner?

I thought I'd made the decision to get 33s because if you get 35s you DEFINITELY need to regear... i know people dont regear with 33s, so that's why i made the decision to get 33x12.5x15. SO from what I understand if i get 33s, keep my stock gearing, and get a SCT tuner, i wont have to worry about being sluggish. correct?

Depends... What gear ratio do you have now? If it's 4.10 it won't be too bad. If it's 3.73, I'd regear. I ran 33s with 3.73s for awhile, and it's no fun at all to drive. Not to mention the added stress you put on the transmission. I eventually went to 4.56 and it was a night and day difference.

Depends on the engine too. A 2.3 or 3.0 will want badly to be regeared even if it has a 4.10 stock. A 4.10 with the 4.0 wouldn't be too bad though. You'll also want to check into seeing if you have a limited slip or open differential in the first place. If it's open, I'd suggest swapping in a limited slip if you plan on doing any offroading

I have 4.10's and 33's with the 4.0.. I don't have a tuner but wish I did.. I will eventually just get 4.56's tho. It's sluggish unless I floor it to take off fast. If I do that I have no issues getting up to speed, but I look like I'm trying to be a bad-*** and wasting gas.

I currently have 33's and 4.10's. Once I get up to speed, it's fine. I hate everything else about it.

Even with my tuner, it sucks.

I've got 4.88's going in with my SAS, then 35's will be going on

I never had 4.10s, but seeing y'all's responses, I'd say it's prettily definitive that you should regear to 4.56s, OP. The tuner will help a little, but in my experience it didn't help enough with the 3.73s to make it feel like I was driving a stock setup. It did just enough to keep me from blowing up the transmission, which is what will happen if you don't do this the right way.
