transmission swap question

I have a 1999 ranger 4x4 off road. it has a 4.0l auto. I got a great deal on this but it has a auto trans and I hate autos. I have a few explorers and BIIs and spare parts. I have a few M50D-R1s laying aroundout of 91-94 stuff. my question is when the auto goes out will one of them work in it? they are all behind 4.0s. I also have one out of a 97 ranger with a 4.0. most places I saw them for sale (mainly ebay) list them from like 88-98.

i think the one out of the 97 will work as the older ones are 4 speed's and your's is a 5 speed.

1991-1994 are 5 speeds and seem to look identical to the97 one I have.

ALL M50D-R1's are 5 speeds. As long as the M50D-R1 came off a 4.0 (doesn't matter if it was the 4.0 OHV or the 4.0 SOHC as the bell housing is the same) it will work.....since you already have a '97 Ranger that was a manual transmission, you will have all the parts to swap in the manual (atleast you should).....

i am 150% happy with the swap i did on my truck.....
