Hello all, as the title reads, my 96 2WD 2.9L Ranger with 350 000km has had trouble shifting in the cold for 6 weeks. It is -10 to 30 degrees C around here.

The clutch pedal goes to the floor with pressure only coming in the final inch. Shifting is possible when I first get in, it feels as if there is residual pressure from when it was last run. When this pressure runs out (quickly), it shifts very poorly, with the pedal pushed way deep, until it has really heated up. I parked in a heated garage one night and it shifted relatively fine in the morning.

I have never changed or seen the fluid and I have driven it 100 000km. Is it a leaky slave that needs replacing? Or could it just be air / dirty fluid / water in the line? Could I just get the fluid bled and replaced and see how it drives? Or could I just pour in new fluid?

I don't have the $750 for a new slave with labor, nor the facilities to do the job myself. This truck needs to get 1500km further.

Your help would be greatly appreciated as I need to get this thing home!
