Cost of a clutch job?

My clutch went out and the auto shop quoted me $1,200. I have a 2002 4 cyl 5 speed that has never had a mechanical problem before. Is that price aobut right?

$200 for clutch kit, $70 for slave, $2 for fluid, and $925 for labor on a 2wd? WTF! shoot...you probably don't even need to drop the exhaust to drop the trans.

Back when I bought my truck a good trans shop did mine for $500: clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, flushed the hydraulic clutch system, and some new bushings in the shifter, among some other little things I imagine...

I got charged $200 for the labor and it was done at Ford by a Ford tech. It's good having friends that work at Ford. I did buy the clutch and stuff myself. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
