Gears.

I am trying to find out what gears I have in the back of my '93 and I have no idea where to start. I've tried inside the door, on the rear end itself, even on some websites I googled. Is there any possible way I could use the V.I.N. to determine it, because I know the truck is all original, and that I'm the third owner of it.

Thanks in advance

Look on the inside of the door and give the axle code. Then we can tell you what you have.

If i got it right the Axle Code is 91. While looking at the sticker sideways it's on the bottom in the middle correct?

Also, how do I determine the gear ratio in the front? I've come to the conclusion that I have a Dana 35, but after that I'm clueless. Wouldn't the front be matched to the rear?

sure hope so, or your truck will try and tear itself apart.

actually it is possible to run slightly differnt ratios front to rear, it's common to see 4.09s matched with 4.11s for example.

the reasoning is that perfect match ratios are not always availabe in different axles.

the difference is so minescule that it doesn't matter because you shouldn't be running 4x4 on a high traction surface.

So using that chart, I have an 8.8" rear and Dana 35 front, both with 3.27 gears?

Correct?
