Explorer front drveshaft in a ranger

I was wondering what id have to do in order to make an explorer driveshaft with the double cardon work on my truck. is there a company that makes an adapter to bolt it up to my 13-54? or will it bolt up as is?

That driveshaft is too long as it is, it'll be wayyyyy to long with an adapter.

What year explorer are you talking about. I have one out of a 92 and its about 1.5" too long, an adapter would add a good 3".

I believe the ones out of the (95-97?) explorers are closer to the right length, but you'd have to switch out the front flange on the t-case in favor of the u-joint style flange. An adapter would still make the driveshaft too long.

They didn't switch to the CV style flange on explorers until '98, the same year as the Rangers.

What kind/brand of shaft is the Superlift front driveshaft? Is it custom made or adapted from something else? It looks similar to the driveshaft that was in my '91...

if you are planning on lifting it get one, if not dont do it, just get a stock one, it will be much smoother and better all around.

the adapter is over 100 bucks.

Shoot as much as I scoured that thread I better remember some of it.

Thanks for the correction on the years. I new 95 and 96 had that shaft so I just assumed the 97 had it too.

Hmmm - this thread has me thinking. So if the explorer front diffs are longer, would one from say a 94 be a nice swap in for my stock one, on a lifted truck??
