noise

ok it has been a really long time since i have posted and figured i would tell everybody this. i saw where people have been complaining about a noise underneath their beloved truck. well it happened to me several weeks ago. i keep happening and i asked professionals and looked and what not my self. well finally i found the problem, the rear end. yeah it literally internally exploded on be driving around. at first i thought it was u-joint, but the mechanic took off the housing and parts fell out all over the place. if you hear a noise underneath your truck might want to keep this as an option, but there is no way to check unless you want to go thruoght the trouble and time of pulling the cover off. nearlly a thousand dollars later it is back up and running good.

no ujoint in the rear except the driveshaft to the pinion yoke. Thousand dollars sounds rediculous stupid price for something like that. you coulda found another at a JY already set up for maybe a few hunny.

it is not a "rediculous stupid price" considering he replaced rear axles, rear drums, rear shoes, bleed the brakes, rearend and labor. and it all came from a junk yard.

for a thousand bucks its rediculous. but im one of those do it yourselfers, so i think all labor charges are rediculous. those are all super SUPER simple operations, they just take a little time, which they obviously charged you for...

what im curious about is why axles were replaced when it sounds like you just trashed your spider gears.. i almost bet you could have gotten away with just the spiders. iv trashed 2 sets and have only had the replace just them

maybe, but exploded spiders can also fawk the ring and pinion gear, and all that jazz, in which case JY axle would be cheaper...
