Icon8 Damn Transmission

Well my trans started acting up so i took it to get looked at. Got a call back friday afternoon and the clutch overheated and cracked the flywheel and pressure plate. So time for another damn clutch with less the 25000 miles on the spec.

Spec doesn't have a good reputation, their clutches vary a lot and you either get a real good one or that's junk. I'd be looking to see if any other big name companies make clutches for the transmission.

Just because my truck has an auto doesn't mean anything

I got my clutch from napa, it wasn't the factory replacement... I can't remember the brand but i've had great luck with it, granted i have very few miles but it grabs like no other but still slips...

Just replaced my friend's "clutch" twice this week and still can't figure out why you need Popeye forearms to get it in first, or why it scrapes going into reverse? Replaced flywheel, tob/slave cylinder, pilot bearing, clutch and pressure plate. Second batch of parts didn't help much - all O'reilly parts. Truck was worked on because of a leaky slave cylinder.

It's a '94 B2300 2wd - Sorry for the hijack.

I have had to replace the clutch 3 times in 4 years so far. Each time I have had a new slave cylinder installed. This recent clutch replacement I used an OEM replacement from LUK clutches along with their slave cylinder. The last 2 times I used a Centerforce clutch with some kind of aftermarket slave cylinder. My tranny doesn't shift as smoothly as it used to and I blame the previous clutch failures for this since I had to sometimes shove it into gear to get going. Gotta love the crappy tranny.

Someone told me I should use syncromesh manual tranny fluid to try to smooth the shift out.

[Update] Pulled transmission for the 3rd time Saturday evening and tried different brand slave cylinder and still won't shift. Pulling again today and will reinstall the OLD flywheel - if that doesn't fix it I'll get drunk and forget about it.

I wonder if I should be looking for a 4x4 auto instead of a manual.

Just got it pulled for the 4th time and measured the new flywheel - seems like the new flywheel is a bit off when compared to the old flywheel. On a side note, my '08 automatic has had a very slight front seal leak since the day I bought it.

Buddy finally told me "BTW, the transmission started shifting bad before I had an issue with the leaky slave cylinder"

Took it to a transmission shop - transmission is shot.
