Front locker with ifs

How is your guys ifs holding up with a front locker? I'm looking to get an aussie for the front when i switch over to 35's and 4:88 gears and still not sure what to do for the rear of my 8.8 28 spline. almost tempted jus to weld it. lol. I have ridden in a spooled/welded rearend vehicle on the roads and I don't get why everyone thinks it's so bad for a daily driver. where's the cheapest place to buy 4:88 gears, a winch, and an aussie locker?

I love my front locker. So far its holding up just fine. I romped on it pretty good at the Midland meet. I had the front end bouncing up and down trying to get up a really steep hill and it held up. I was pretty worried I was gonna snap a CV doing it, but it didn't break.

The only place you can get the aussie locker is from aussie lockers website, mine was like $250 shipped. http://www.aussielocker.com/

I'd strongly advise against welding the rear. You might not think its that bad, but you'll hate if you have to drive with it like that all the time.

Don't know about IFS lockers but welding the rear is not a good idea for a daily driver. The spider gears are meant to slip when going around turns so you have control. With the spider gears welded, both tires are forced to spin the same speed going around a curve. Makes turning difficult, dangerous and eventually one tire will have to slip. This puts way too much stress on the spider gears and they're guaranteed to explode eventually under that amount of stress.

I might be throwing in a locker in the front. I bought a front diff but I haven't put it in the truck yet so this would be the perfect time to do it.

The 98 and up front diff is a Dana 35 but Dana 35 stuff wont fit into it. It is a special, slightly smaller housing made for the Ranger and Explorer. So if you get stuff for it make sure it says Ranger or Explorer. If you want the Aussie locker here is the correct one.
