Probably not. The 98+ Ranger D35 is a special version that is narrower than other D35's.

no because it will dissengage when you are turning just like a limited slip or locker in the rear.....

and besides....when you are in 2wd your hubs will be disengaged.....just because you dont have to lock them in to put it in 4x4 dont mean you dont have them.....if you have 4wd, you have hubs......when you put your truck in 2wd, they disengage.......when you put it in 2wd, it is a good idea to back up about 10 feet to make sure they are disengaged........

putting it in the front will not limit your turning....

i have a 2003 though. i have cv joints up front. my front driveshaft is constantly turning with the front wheels. i tested it last time my truck was on a lift. i turned one of the wheels and it spun the driveshaft. is this not normal on my truck? all of this was done in 2WD

Actually it does. After PVH all rangers are live axle. I think 2000 1/2 +

01+ is live axle, no hubs disengaging. our CVs and driveshaft spin ALL the time no matter 2wd or 4wd.

edit: phil beat me.

huh....learn something daily.....i thought they still ahd the PHV's..............

ok.......well even if you install it in the front you WILL NOT have any problems with it....it will disengage its self when you are turning just like it would if you had one in the rear..........because the outside wheel HAS to turn faster than the inside wheel......

The 98~2006 diff is the same but the axle situation is different from 2000.5 on. Judging from their application chart, it appears that Powertrax does not recommend using their No-Slip or Lock-Right lockers with the 2000.5+ "live axle" trucks that turn the diff at all times.

I haven't had my front Aussie Locker long but it seems to cause zero issues in 2WD other than the mild clicking that you get from this type of locker when turning.

I'm waiting to see if there are any steering problems with the locker in 4WD on ice or snow covered pavement. That has been sited by others as a problem area for front lockers.

do u think the lock right would be ok in my truck? i would sacrifice a little noise if it meant a better locker

I believe that the No-Slip and the Aussie are both newer designs than the Lock-Right. I'd be willing to bet that you can't tell any performance difference between any of the 3 front lockers. However, the Aussie and the No-slip are supposed to be quieter on the street.
