Rear diff problem

Ok first of all I'd like to explain that I don't know alot about trucks but I'll try to explain my problem

after I got the truck there was vibrating and I was told the u- joint was gone and the pinion seal was leaking. I had the seal and both u- joints replaced and they told me there is play in the pinion shaft.
WhAt I want to know is if the baring could be the problem and if I can replace it or would it be better to get a new one from the junk yard?

From what I understand from reading another post I have a7.5" diff, so if I need to replace the diff how hard is it to put a 8.8" in and what is the difference?
The truck is a 3L V6, 5 speed 2WD

Difference is strength. 8.8 has a bigger ring gear, making it stronger. Why didn't you replace the pinion bearing when you were doing the seal?

Then get an 8.8. If you get one from a ranger, it will bolt right in.

I was never told to... Is it hard to do and do you think that's where the vibrating is coming from?

If you get the expo diff and leave it axle over leaf it will lower your rear the same thickness as the diff. Which you mentioned earlier you wanted to do anyways.

Give me a call if you need a hand or just want to hear what I would do.
