LvL II 8.8 is almost ready to go in !

Got the LvL II 8.8 sandblasted FINALLY.
Use Etching Primer, two or so coats then Blk Paint.
It’s drying in the cold right now, hope the paint isn’t affected by the cold.

Next, getting it set up with 4.56 gears. switchable locker.

I need to chg over to disc brakes before putting in the truck, have to read sum.

I am bad about pics, I owes some already so the pics will come but later.

I'm assuming you had a 7.5", did you ever have any trouble with it?

Had an 8.8, 28 spline, found an 03 Lvl II Truck, head on damage, took everything I could.
The axle that is going in is 4.10s, L/S, 31 spline… got it so went with it.

The explorer axles with disc brakes are also 31 spline. I'm thinking they should work.they should be the same axle.

I'm looking at doing e same on my 28 spline

Looks like you are right.

Took a minutes but located the Thread for Expo Disc Brakes on the 31 spline 8.8.

https://www.ranger-forums.com/engine-drivetrain-122/how-explorer-rear-disc-brake-conversion-21614/

Here is the 28 Spline 8.8 Disc Brake Conversion Thread:

https://www.ranger-forums.com/showth...ht=Disc+Brakes

Added: So I will order the parts for that, next is finding someone to buy my Ford L/S/4.10 Set up from the LvL II Axle, don’t know the mileage.

You are selling the ls and 4.10s from the 31 spline? I may be interested. What's going in your truck if the ls and 4.10s are coming out?

First an OX Locker is going in w/4.56s, maybe even new axles... !?

This isn't a for sale post so when I get the new one in I will let the two of you know first.

Last but not least... 2000xlmiller,
What do you want pic of ?

The axle is in the shop being rebuilt and regeared.

Shouldn't be too much longer.

Anyone use the newer Copper/Nickel Brake Hard LInes yet ?
Was looking for S/S hard brake lines for the 8.8 going in the Ranger and came across the copper/nickel ones.

I used to Forge Cupronickel in to Valve Bodies for the Navy, a copper/nickel alloy, but I never heard of brake lines being made out of it.
I guess it is annealed to soften it and make it flexible but it still is as strong as a steel hardline !?!

I'd be interested to hear what people have to say about them. I was looking at those lines as well since my DD '97 needs new lines.

Just an update in case anyone was interested...I ended up going with the copper/nickel lines on my '97. So far so good. My buddy at the place I got the line says he hasn't heard anything negative about it and that they hold up well. It was pretty easy to form and bend by hand and I was able to make all my flares without any issue.
