Rattle Noise
Ok..... I started hearing this nosie yesterday, And I'm going to a meet tomarrow. I don't want to drive to the meet and have my truck break down on me. So tell me what yea think...
The nosie sounds like a metal rattling/clinking. It's loud I can hear it over the MT baja's and the radio at 50mph. It only happens when I am hitting the gas, and happens even more if I'm accelerating up hill. I crawled under the truck just now, and everthing seems ok. Let me know what yea think...
Thanks

Sounds like pinging/predetonation if i'm hearing your description properly.
Used a differenct gas station recently or used a lower octane gas? That can cause pre-detonation and thats what i sounds like only during accelleration and moreso on hills (more load).
I'd also check the exhaust and any heat shields around it.

Welcome to my world man...let me see if I have this right. It sound like a penny in a tin can, never consistent and not patterned? When you step on the gas just like thump it a little it will also make the noise? If that is the case...a different or better gas will not fix it. Adding a fuel cleaner and even octane booster will not help it. it sounds more like it is coming form under your feet then from the front of the truck such as a motor noise?

Well what I can tell you is this...its not life threatening. Mine has been doing it for a while now and no harm no foul. Im guessing it could be something in the cat. or a loose heat shield however I cannot pin point it yet. I have no power loss or anything do you? If not...drive it till whatever it is becomes more obvious (such as louder) or it breaks...either way you can fix it :o)
