tranny leaking

You can replace the rear seal that is at the end of the tailshaft rather easily. It only cost a couple of dollars usually and you'll just have to pull the old one out and hammer the new one in, of course you have to take the driveshaft off first. I've done it on mine before but thats a completely different trans.

Very, very common. Mine leaks but it's so slow it takes many, many months to make a difference in transmission fluid level. The shaft is kind of "slosh" lubricated. There's a baffle forward of the tail cone where fluid sloshes over into that area. It's not under pressure or anything. I've been leaking about the same rate for 3 years, lol, and I just ignore it.
Soon I'll be rebuilt for 4WD and there will be no more slip-yoke driveshaft -- hooray!
