play in rear wheel

play in rear wheel

Newbie to forum as well as newbie to ford rangers...have maybe an 1/8 inch play in passenger side rear wheel when jacked up..bearings ? axle wheel is tight on drum thanx JP

play how?

in and out or up and down.

in and out is normal play in your c clips.

The axle will slide in and out, that's how you remove the c clips out that hold it in.

in and out...eighth inch play is normal ? saw some poor guy on the freeway with an axle out the other day..don't want to be that guy...thnx for the reply

ok yea i know, old topic, but. how much in and out play is ok? i have zero up and down play, but maybe a 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch of in and out play. is this just the c clips? or do i need bearings?
