Spline Counts (Regearing)

I have a 2006 FX4 4x4 and i have been looking all over trying to find the spline counts in my front dana 35 and rear 8.8 axle.
Front Dana 35 = 26 Spline
Rear Ford 8.8" = 28 Spline

is that correct???

Im regearing everything to 4.56, also just to make sure, is there anything else i need to pay attention to besides the spline count?
im getting the ring and pinion x2 plus the installation kit x2 and then a tru-track for the front and a lock-right for the rear.

Thanks

28 spline rear axle tube is 2.75" in diameter
31 spline rear axle tube is 3.25" in diameter

front is a standard cut D35 and they dont make a tru track for it, only aussie and someone else. cant remember.

spline count does not matter on gears. just the cut and size.

So would this work for the front..?
Superior Axle and Gear D35456 - Superior Axle and Gear Ring and Pinion Sets – SummitRacing.com
Superior Axle and Gear 35-2065 - Superior Axle and Gear Ring and Pinion Overhaul Kits – SummitRacing.com

i couldnt really find anything for the rear and im really confused right now so im going to go to bed and continue my research tomorow.
any help would be appreciated, i want to fit the lock-right lockers on the rear,

one of these 2 depending... now just got to find the correct ring and pinion i think.
Powertrax 1820-LR - Powertrax Lock-Right Lockers = 28 Spline
Powertrax 1821-LR - Powertrax Lock-Right Lockers = 31 Spline

yes those gear/gear install kits are right for the front.

take your pick on 8.8 4.56 gears

Ring and Pinion Gears - SummitRacing.com

same with install kits

Ring and Pinion Gear Installation Kits - SummitRacing.com

depending on the type of install kit you want you will need the right spline count. otherwise it doesnt matter.

Dont you mean Dana 35 = 26?

If so, then the front gears im getting is the one i posted above from summit.
Next, the rear, Since its a FX4 Off road its 28 but i cant find any gears in 28 spline, everything i see is 30. are the Yukon (#YG-M35-456) the only ones available? (i havent even see any specs for those) or am i the one thats still confused?

Look at your first responce.....Spline count has nothing to do with ring and pinion. If it's for an 8.8, it'll fit ALL 8.8's....

EDIT: I see your part number for those Yukon's.....thats the right part number. I've got the YG-M35-488 on mine in the front.

Wait....your post is confusing... Rear gears dont care on the spline count. There's only one spline count for our fronts.....if the part number is YG-M35, if it's for the M35, it'll fit 98+ ranger front axles.

go to completeoffroad.com.....yukons for cheaper than the lessor grade superiors....thats where I got mine from.

From summit: 220 + 112 = $332 US plus shipping for gears and master install kit
From completeoffroad = $278 US with free shipping for yukons and master install kit.

FORD 8.8" GEAR & INSTALL KIT PACKAGE DEAL 4.56

For your front:
4.56 YUKON RING & PINION GEARS-MODEL 35 DANA 35

you won't like a lock-right if your a manual trans... ask me how i know. lol.

I will ask cause its probably good to know... sooo...??? haha (heavy on the gas :P)
I got an auto so i shouldnt have your problem haha. tomorow im going to the garage to check out how much they are going to charge me for the install. Im in Quebec and i cant find anything here thats why i order everything. it comes out cheaper for me.

I heard that the Yukon were cheap thats why i didnt look for them. Thanks for the link for both front and rear. i might order those 2 complete kits and order the lock-right from summit.

I think im just about ready to get everything.

I can't tell if your truck is a Level II or the regular Off Road model, but the lock-right won't fit your current carrier if you've got a LevelII truck with the Torsen differential. You'll need an open carrier put in. Same goes for that Off Road model as well...you'll need an open carrier for it, unless Richmond started making hte lock-rights for the Trac-loc carriers.

I believe the FX4 models will have a trac loc limited slip. The lunch box lockers like the lock-rite and aussie need to go into an open carrier, NOT a limited slip carrier (unless there is something new I don't know about).

Are you locking the front? If so, the aussie is much less expensive and is just as good as (better than?) the others, great warranty too.

The axle spline count as it relates to the D35 is 27 as noted above. You may be thinking of the pinion/yoke spline count.
