loss of power?

I recently bought some new tires, 255/35/18, for my 01 ranger edge and ive noticed a significant amount of power loss. I was told that since im running smaller tires and that theyre lighter, my driveshaft is working to hard and wont keep up with how fast my tires are rotating? can some clerify this up for me and recommend something to fix this problem?

Maybe new gears. How much size of tire did you go down.

Smaller tires would make you faster since they weigh less. Did you put rims on as well? Maybe they are really heavy. If not start checking everything. Fuel filter, spark plugs, etc.

Yes but he said loss of power. Only really big tires would cause you to lose power. When I ran smaller than stock tires for a while the truck would get up and go like no other but would tach out on the freeway.
