4.10s or 4.56s?

There is no way you run 4000 RPM at 65 MPH with 4.56's. I run 2700 RPM at 70 MPH with my 4.56's, exactly the same RPM I ran at that speed with the stock 4.10's. The OP's truck is a 3.slow so it needs all the help it can get and 4.56's will do the trick. An under geared truck means the engine has to work that much harder to keep momentum which uses more gas. Lugging along at the lowest RPM possible isnt always the best thing for mileage.

Agreed, lots of bad crappy info here.
If you are regearing, only do it once. 33's, and the 3.0L with 4.56's will be a MUCH better choice than 4.10's. Your mileage should even pick up a bit too.
The 3.0L is rev happy anyway, a few extra is nothing to worry about and will hurt your mileage way less than if you went with 4,10s (which are too steep still).
4.88's would actually be an even better choice than 4.56's.....the 3.0L needs all the gearing it can get. 4.56's for 33's on the 4.0L is actually a bit much, but on the 3.0L its only adequate. Most charts will suggest 4.88's for the 3.slow.
DO NOT FEAR THe RPM! Your 3.0L will thank you later..

The reason most people who posted LOST mileage they say is not because they went with 4.10's or 4.56's, its because they DIDN"T go with 4.88's. With 33's and 4.10's or 4.56's, the motor is still being overworked....
And OP, you have the standard cut, low pinion IFS D35. It came with the torsion bar setup in 1998. 93-97 had the TTB high pinion reverse cut rotation D35 radius arm setup.

Crusing RPM @ 65mph for 31's & 4.10's/4.56's will be around 2900/3220 respectively with OD OFF. Those are typical RPM's, and will be 15-30% lower with OD on. Normal operating RPM's.
