How big is that? Take a pic next to a ruler. Is it plastic or rubber?

my camera is dead but you could fit a baseball in the curved part. Its rubber also. I have no idea where it came from but will crawl back under there today. I had the tranny removed when it fell so it must be a motor support or something.

Does not look like the tranny mount, but maybe. Motor mount?

Post up the Ford numbers on it. Someone on here should be able to trace them to see what it is.

Is the top line the part #? I tried also but no luck. I figure it's probably not a good idea to put the tranny back in and drive the truck until I figure out where the part goes

I know it may be hard to saay but did it come more from the front or rear of motor. whatever it is its def broke, now we just need to find out what it is and where it came from. STUPID sneaky parts. usually redneck stone is pretty good wtih this stuff. he seems to know these trucks pretty well.

It seems to have fell near the back of the engine, drivers side. Usually I'm pretty good at making sure to keep track of everything but I didnt see this until it fell. Actually it is rubber and does not appear to be torn it is just rough on the edges. I took a light and rolled around looking for where it could have come off but no luck. I'll go down to Napa and see if they know and if not up to ford I go. I just need to figure it out so I can put my truck back together.

Figured it out, goes between the starter and the engine block. I don't know how I did not notice it when I pulled the starter off

The part fits or lays into the cavity under the starter motor...The starter motor sits on it. When it is removed you can then see the fly wheel so I believe it is to protect or seal that area.

I removed my starter this morning..and found the part that was mentioned in the above thread...I am looking for an oil leak that I have been searching for about 2 weeks..I cleaned the engine 2x and replaced the oil sending unit that is connected to the oil filter base. But I still have a leak...I saw that the oil leaked appered to come from undert that rubber part that the starter motor sat on...so I removed the starter...if this rubber part is torn would that be the source of the leak...and/or does motor oil leak from the area....I am on limited income...so I am praying that it is not a main rear seal...the engine is a 2.3L with only 79,000 miles...the rest of the engine is clean. From what I have read it seems because of the mileage of the engine that the main seal is probably not the problem...at elast I pray it isn't... Any ideas will be greatly appreicated.

The only way for oil to get into the bellhousing would be your rear main, or maybe a leaky torque converter.

I was hoping...actually praying that it would not be the mail seal...but deep down I had a feeling it might be. Not very smart when it comes to engines..what would cause the torque converter or main seal to leak with such low mileage? Is it expensive to fix if I take it to a shop?
