What steps or how hard is this to replace on a 4.0 5spd 96 xlt 4x4 model.

You have to take the tranny and transfer case out, It's a PITA. Might as well replace the whole clutch set while you're in there. You don't want to have to pull it again later

What Noah said....If you've never done anything like this before, i wouldn't try it. I've done tranny swaps and engine swaps on old trucks/cars, I'm gonna do the ranger myself.

The slave cylinder on my 4.0 '93 Exploder is in the bellhousing. I just replaced mine a few months ago.

What he said - I'm pretty sure that in earlier years the slave is outside of the bellhousing, if so pretty do-able by yourself, just check to make sure, it might/might not

AutoZone told me $30 for a slave, however I dont think it was the correct part. The transmission shop charged me $120, and they ALWAYS overcharge
