Trans oil

Well I decided to do a transmission drain/refill on my 89 today ... and i needed to show you all something.... i dont think its ever been changed in 21 years lol ... there was tons of metal flakes on the drain plug nut and looked like ... old motor oil lol here is the pic




pretty bad huh?

Wow i hope that came from a 5-speed and not an auto looks burnt and toasty to me...

yea it is a manual lol i know the repair manual says it does not need it .... but yea i needed it obviously... on ford ranger forum the guy said i should of not changed it and i will have many problems since i did ???

your not going to have any problems. hes assuming you have an auto. everyone for some reason assumes you have an auto just cause of the tranny fluid.

get a magnetic drain plug those shavings arent good and you know theres more in there. people grinding shifts FTL

have one .. hence the reason on my original post stated there were metal flaked ON the drain plug ... but thanks for looking out :) i think it might be a stock item ... the threads are not magnetic , but the un threaded shaft area is :)

its not so much grinding shifts, as it is just wear and tear. the truck isn't new, ya know.
