Leaking Pinion seal (Sometimes)

I had my 2005 4x4 Ranger serviced a few months ago and no leaks. The shop had checked the rear end and evidently added a little fluid and I am guessing filled to the top. Last week, it was over 100 degrees and I was running 70-75 mph for about 200 miles. When I got home, I noticed a couple of drops of fluid under the pinion seal. Since then, no leaks as I have just been running around town. Is it possible that the seal leaked when the fluid expanded when heated and caused the problem???? With the level somewhat lower, will the leak stop?
By the way, I had never run it that far that fast.
Thanks,
gary

Yes, plenty of fluid. Just below overflow.
Thanks,
Gary
