rattle noise from front left

Hello,

I am hoping I can get some direction on my issue. I have spent many hours reading posts on this forum and I think my issue my be with axle or hub/bearings, but I am not sure and really do not want to just start swaping parts.

I have a 99 4x4 4.0. I hear a rattle when driving from the front left of the vehicle. When I jacked the car up and spun the tire I could not reproduce the sound. When I go over bumps it seems to make the rattle happen but not every time.Varying speeds does not seem to impact the rattle.

Any advise would greate be apprecitiated.

Thanks.
John

If speed does not affect it, it is more than likely the ball joints. Could be upper or lower, and could also be tie rod ends. Being a 99 it could be all of those things.
