TERRIBLE brake chatter/noise after sitting...

Hey guys.

My truck regularly sits 5-15 days at a time of non-use and sometimes I never even see it during that time. I noticed this last winter, but when the cooler wetter weather makes an appearance, the brakes are EXCESSIVELY loud for quite some time. This year they are almost unbearable. I can hear definitely rear brakes making noise and possibly the front passenger making noise. Happens constantly until I'm going 50 and slow down for a stop sign. My thought is brake chatter (pads chattering on rotors when they make contact when I hit the brakes. Brake performance doesn't seem faulted, just that damn noise.

I know Mustangs and Cobras have "anti-moan" brackets for the rear to help prevent this, do Explorers have that?

Stats on truck...2001 XLT 4x4 Ranger with 12" Centric rotors and Posi-Quiet Ceramic pads, 2000 Explorer rear brakes with Raybestos rotors and Posi-Quiet Ceramic pads.

Are there any suggestions to help alleviate this problem?

Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no anti moan pads in the factory gen 2 Explorer setup. I have run into some brake applications that just hate ceramic pads. This might be one of them. Just a guess though.

Thanks Bob. Perhaps I'll swap to Semi-Met Posi Quiets. I never seemed to have any of these issues with them prior to the Ceramics, though I also still had the stock 10" drums out back at the time.

Correction - I meant to say braces or brackets.

Negative. It's like a chalk board, a hipsters finger nails, a chain saw, 1/2" steel plate, and an angle grinder are in bed trying to produce a Honda Civic.

It's nearly unbearable. And only happens after it sits for a day or two.

I think only Bob gets away with correcting Bob.

I've had Ceramic Pads in the front of my truck (I'm not sure how much it matters...) but they're decently loud for a bit after its been sitting for a bit (My truck sits anywhere from 1-2 weeks at a time). So it could just be the pads.
