engine swap problems??

K i just swapped out a 98 4 cyl engine into my 95 ranger. 300000 miles and the old 4 cyl engine was burning oil bad and very tired.. well as I come to learn there is a number of little differents with these two years. Now I have addressed them all and got it working in the truck is just that the 95 fuel rail had two lines as the 98 only has one. I blocked off one line to the tank and the engine will run and drive fine but at idle for a few mins it will act up and shut off. Im thinking the fuel pressure is building up and the puter shuts it down. Both fuel systems on the 95 and the 98 are nothing alike. trying to find a fix for this problem. Im thinking i will have to swap out all the fuel line system from the 98 to the 95. Was wondering if I put a T in the fuel line on the 95 and tied it into the line I have blocked off will it reduce the line pressure at idle?? Im a old school carb kind of guy and dont deal in FI very offen and need to find a fix for this so I can move on with the rest of the rebuild on the truck..

Thanks
