transfer case codes

I'v been calling around junkyards today and every junkyard asks what the tag number is. I guess theres ones that start with f, yl, xl also an A and a B. Does anybody know if there is a difference in these cases? You can see many of the options if you go on car-parts.com and search for ranger transfer cases

Same story happend when I needed a trans........check the sticker on the side of the case, or take a pic. With my trans, they needed to know the 1L54 and something else that i didn't know.
