this has probably been posted somewhere in drivetrain tech forum somewhere and I don't have time to search it.

I'm in process of replacing my clutch slave cylinder or throwout bearing assembly either way you wanna call it ... i had someone installed for me and didn't bother to torque down on the bolt and it causes not wanna shift gears properly on me ... grrr

Is there a bellhousing or clutch cover gasket available to get? and as well there's an fly wheel gasket seal behind it ... I need those numbers .... I have a HELL of time finding it.

I have never heard of a bell housing or flywheel gasket. There is no need for them as far as I know. I have seen a shim used on the bell housing but never a gasket. A flywheel should be in direct contact with the crankshaft. Any gasket material between them could cause a wobble in the flywheel, which would be a very bad thing.

 

There is the Main seal on the crankshaft which is behind the flywheel, the 4.0l is not known for leaking "rear main seal" but many replace this seal because it is under $10 and a pain to change if it does ever leak, i.e. you have to pull out the transmission again.
You do have to be careful changing it, if you scratch the crank shaft it WILL leak when you start engine

but as IN2 said there are no block to bell housing gaskets on any Ranger

 

ooh okay thank you for your inputs guys ... another question ... before removed the drive shaft from the transfer case ... I drain the fluids. it was filled with gear oil. I seen places like autozone and O' Reilly where they have specification pages telling you to use automatic transmission fluid ... is it wise to stay with gear oil to ensure preventing damage to gears?

I have to check my manual book to see what type of either automatic transmission or grade gear oil i need to use. I'll look to be sure or I'll be sorry and not a happy camper!

 

You list a 2WD in your profile, so no transfer case?

And no reason to drain fluids to replace clutch parts in any case.

You can drain and refill if you want, just not required.

Yes, the M5OD-R1 manual transmission uses ATF

Pre-'98 should use MERCON, but Ford no longer has it made so equivalent is Dex/Merc which is still available.
'98 and up uses MERCON V

Many have used Royal Purple Synchromax in any year with good results, it is a synthetic oil product

Uses about 2.5quarts if fully drained

oops I remmy not having transfer case with my truck .... transfer case is like a 4 x 4 right? if so I don't have that feature. My bad!

Well I had to drain the gear oil from transmission to remove the drive shaft from trans for easy removal since I'm planned on replacing the clutch slave assembly this weekend.

What kind of grade gear oil recommend using Royal Purple Synchromax? I may be doing some heavy haulin!

Thank you again for ya'll help! :) unforunetly my truck isn't covered under warranty so I'll stick with performance upgrade recommendation: Synachromax manual transmission like u suggested :)

How do I disconnect this? Haynes manual book doesn't tell ya squat



cuz' i have to put in new clutch tube line that runs from clutch booster into throwout bearing ... any suggestion are welcome :)
