Transmission Sticking

I have a 1997 Ranger 4x2 with the 4.0 and an automatic. I just drove the truck. 400 miles straight for the first time in a long time. It did perfect on the trip but ad soon as I pulled into the hotel parking lot and tried to back into a parking spot the Trans felt like it was sticking and wouldn't move unless a gave it quite a bit of gas. Then when I put it in drive it did the same thing. I checked the fluid level, it was good, I changed the filter and fluid and as soon as I start it to drive it acts perfect then about a mile later it does the same thing from a dead stop. Onxe it starts rolling it acts perfeCT. But the Trans engaging and pulling from a dead stop is the issue and old after its driven for about a mile. I am very confused. Any help would be great! Thanks

Maybe your brakes are sticking?

Sticking? What symptoms are you having? Sounds like slipping. You might want to check your valve body and solenoids. Did you find anything but clutch material when you dropped the pan?

Its more of a sticking brakes really. As you said it only occurs when you are in dead stop.
