transimission woes.

when i purchased my truck the transmission was a little sketchy.. one problem is i can hear what sounds like a bearing at low rpms under a decent load, as if you were starting off in second gear.... because of this i changed the trans fluid and it did not go away , but on the drain plug i had quite a bit of metal stuck to the magnet .

which leads me to my next problem .. today we had some killer rain and the streets flooded . i made it through with no problems at all .. or so i though . the transmission is hard to get into gears sometimes now . mainly 1-3 . 4 and 5 work great .

any ideas ?

have you checked your clutch fluid... you might be low or have a issue there... when my slave cyl. went out it had similar symptoms auch as not going into gear... pull the rubber grommet on your bellhousing and shine a flashlight up in there to see if there is any fluid on the slave or the clutch disk itself... if there is then thats the problem

I think most the breather tubes get routed to the engine bay... it would be unlikely. If you are having trouble getting into gear i'd check your slave cyl. also. How many miles do you have?

i only have 45,000 miles . is this a common thing on our trucks ? or am i looking at the fault of the previous owner ?

If you change out your tranny fluid again, you might want to do a transmission flush beforehand. If you're changing out the fluid anyhow, it couldn't hurt.
