so i had a sudden problem today when i got out of work, my clutch has been slightly acting up like shuddering a bt getting started out of first, and making a thump when getting started, today when i got out of work i had very little cluth pressure and it was tough to get it into gear. i drove about a mile and stopped at a store, then when i tried to start off again i could only get into and out of gear with the truck off. the clutch had no pressure. it hasn't slipped or lost pressure at all before this. so i was wondering if it just needs a bleed or is the clutch junk?

 

ive heard that rangers have a bad slave cylinder in them that only got fixed after 04 , mines been acting up alot aswell , but not that bad , it just seems that the pedal feels soft all the time

 

Internal slave. Do the whole deal while in there, Rangers are known for that damn slave....I've done quite a few.

 

If you don't see any brake fluid leaking or has leaked out of the bell housing area, it could be the clutch master cylinder has failed. You can also check the clutch fliud reservoir, if it is low you probably have a bad slave, if it is not low the master is probably at fault although the master can leak too. My master cylinder failed while still under warranty.
