Manual tcases are out there.....it's the stuff you need in order to install it is a biatch. The hardnest part to find by far, is the transmission tailhousing. If your find a truck at a yard or whatever, rip everything off of it! shifter, case, linkage, trans tailhousing, the interior shifter boot thingy that's plastic.
Autoguys are out of luck here.......believe entire new trans is needed.
fixed now. lol.

Reason I put that about the automatics......I don't believe the autos have the bungs or whatever for the shifter linkage. And the tailhousings are built into the case on the autos.....thus swapping tailhousings won't work on an automatic. Either new housing or new trans would be needed to do a manual tcase.

The tranny you have is fine, its the transmission tailhousing that you'll need. It will have to have the transfer case bosses along with the OSS speed sensor hole. Its was found only in the 2002 FX4 with manual tranny and 2003 FX4 LII with manual tranny. Its extremely elusive, so good luck finding it.

The autos do have removeable tail housings. And as far as I know all autos had the bosses, and if they didn't, swapping a tail section with them in would be no problem since the autos have the OSS sensor hole on the tranny itself and not on the tail housing. They have it better off then us manual guys.

i take it your truck is already 4x4.
that being said just crawl under it and look at the tail shaft housing and see if there is two threaded holes on the left (drivers side) side of the housing. if there is then your good there.
the transfer case you want is the 1354M. stay away from the 1350M.
the 1354 will bolt in with no driveshaft mods.
you need to look for one from a 92-94 explorer or ranger

This picture shows the two threaded bosses for the linkage in the manual extension housing. The OSS sensor can be seen below them but it is not needed on any manual Ranger before 2001.
Chances are that the 94 housing already has the linkage bosses. Just clean up the threads and bolt it on.
