Too cold outside?
Yesterday was the first time I drove my truck in a few days. Its an 05 FX4 Level II, automatic, 4500kms. It was a little bit chilly out yesterday, about +3 celcius. My transmission wouldn't shift into 5th gear, it just stayed in 4th. The OD button wasn't turned off, so that isn't the problem. Could it have been just a bit too cold out, and the truck needed to warm up a bit more first?

If the engine and transmission are not at opperating temperature, the convertor clutch (it was probably in 5th, but the convertor clutch did not come on, and thats what you felt) is not allowed to come on due to heavy loads put on the engine and tranny when the convertor clutch is on, which means no torque multiplication in the covertor.

"Daddy Griggs" added a transmission temp gauge to his truck. Might be something you could find worth while, if you're in a frigid climate. Plus more gauges are always cool.
