thats my next thing if the autos are blown. but i was wondering if there could be a vacume that could have come off or something?
but the manual will be going on if i got to change deffinatly! and can i just cut out the center of the hubcap to get to them and i got 1 1/4" spacers so i can prob jsut take off the cap in the winter and put back on when its nice out again.
also it doest engauge at all not even the lights come on or anything thay just flash a couple times i dont know what that means???

mine did the same thing, i did the hub fix, where you pull the little metal tabs out of your hubs to make your front axle live like the 01's and up and i havent had a problem since, takes about 15min, if ya got the money do the manual hubs though, ill eventually be getting them......

It could be a number of different problems but the most common is with the indexing in the shift motor (looks kinda like a windshield wiper motor on the transfer case). Pulling the code will point you in the right direction.
That doesn't explain the whistle noise, though, which may or may not be related to the T/C problem. If it happens when the truck is stopped, it is probably a vacuum leak somewhere in the Pulse Vacuum Hublock system. If it a squeal that only happens when rolling, it may be dry dust seals at the front wheel bearings.

the 4x4 stoped flashing and the 4x4 works now so i cna pull a code anymore it just worked the next day and still is now. but the squeeling only happens when rolling and gets high pitched. when i'm driving the squeel sometimes go away slowly and when its totaly gone i can feel underme vibrating and i can hear a vibrating also when driving.

The code is probably still stored in the 4x4 Control Module if you want to find out what it is. With the electronic T-case, I think it's probably good preventative maintenance to engage 4x4 High and Low range regularly to keep everything in the shift motor clean and operational. Just a guess, though.

As for the squealing, I would bet on the grease seals. That's a known issue for 4x4 Rangers.
