4WD not working.

Ok guys. Took the Ranger out on some trails today and shortly have getting out there realized the Ranger the front tires weren't pulling at all.

When I had flipped the dial, it said it was engaging into 4WD Hi... then 4WD Lo... but guess the t-case just wasn't engaging.

Talked to my dad and he said something might have froze up in the t-case and we should just get it checked out.

Couple questions, do you guys think my dad is right about something freezing up in the t-case and is this something I could look into fixing myself? Never really done anything with transmissions or t-cases, but you gotta start somewhere right? Well anyway, just let me know what you think, cause I would like to get this back to operational as soon as possible. Thanks for any help.

Could be something on the electrical side of things. Another reason why I like the manual shift lever for 4x4 applications.

Best thing to do is bring it into a shop.....last thing you want to do is take something apart that you didn't have to in the first place.

no bringing it to the shop isnt a good idea unless you are completely stumped, they will charge you cause they are evil people, there is a ton of info on this problem on this forum, first you need to find out if it the hubs or the transfer case, sounds like its the hubs to me cause the light is coming on, t-case seems to be working, 99 is prone for having the vaccuum system dieing, mine did than i did the hub fix and it works fine till i get the avm hubs.....and that was over a year ago, search this subject and you will find tons of stuff....trust me
